While Chinese domestic wine brands are trying everything to get attention from abroad, reputable international winemakers are on the opposite tack.

They are now establishing their own wineries in China -- moving one step beyond pure product export.

Top grape coasts

Among several Chinese regions suitable for wine-making -- such as parts of Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia and northern China -- the city of Penglai (蓬莱) in Shandong Province has long been the favorite spot for international winemakers to set up local vineyards.

The law in New South Wales has spoken: take off your burka if a copper tells ya.

It's not the complete prohibition of the religious garment that conservative politicians lobbied for last year, but rather general legislation that applies to all headgear for police purposes of identification.

The NSW Premier, Barry O'Farrell, announced yesterday that the legislation should be in place within two months.

It follows an extraordinary journey through the justice system for Sydney Muslim woman Carnita Matthews, who was sentenced to six months in prison last November for falsely accusing a police officer of ordering her to remove her burka.

The U.S. Groupon business model, tweaked with a few localized specifications, has taken off explosively in Korea despite being introduced only last year.

Industry sources estimate that more than 500 business social commerce websites now operate in Korea.

"I think it's a great way to step out of the rut and try something new," said Jae-eun Shim, 31, on why she shops frequently on social commerce sites.
