| Posted: 15 Dec 2011 01:00 PM PST  毎年何百万人もの人が訪れるオーストラリアのビーチ。そんなバカンス感溢れる美しいビーチで、遊泳者が鮫に襲われている。 サメに襲われなくとも毎年87名もの人がビーチで溺れていますよ、と指摘する専門家もいるが、増加するサメの襲撃事件は人々を恐怖のどん底へと陥れている。 今年オーストラリアではサメの襲撃により10名の人が命を落としている。そしてその被害件数は確実に増えているらしい。 2月17日、それは南オーストラリア州コフィン ベイのホリデー リゾートで始まった。アワビ漁をしていた潜水夫ピーター クラークソンさんが二匹のホホジロザメに襲われ、亡くなったのだ。8月に、今度はクイーンズランド州ファントム島で死亡事故が発生している。 最近になって西オーストラリアの沖合で続けて3件の死亡事故が起きたことで、パニックとも言っても過言ではない。現在サメの襲撃によりこれ以上死亡者を出さないようにするための対策が議論されている。 西オーストラリア州漁業省の主任研究員であるローリー マコーリー博士によると、オーストラリア水域では、100種以上のサメが確認されているが、最も危険なのは、ホホジロザメ、イタチザメ、メジロザメだという。    |
