China, the world's most populous country, has sent California, the most populous state in the United States, a very expensive and in-demand gift.

Chinese travelers have become the single biggest overseas spenders in the beach-lined state, with each Chinese visitor forking over an average of US$6,800 during their stays, according to Huang Zhiheng (黄芷蘅), chief China representative of the California Travel and Tourism Commission (CTTC). Huang made his comments to the 21st Century Business Herald.

A proposed alliance between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines looks set to go ahead after it received approval in Singapore.

The Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) has given the plan the green light and it now awaits final approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

With the deal sealed in Singapore, the Australian rubber stamp seems a formality: the ACCC has already given draft approval to the plan.

Almost 50 potential destinations have been listed in the codeshare that has been submitted to the competition watchdogs, reported Australian Business Traveller.
