One billion tourists -- a record-breaking year for travel in 2012 Posted: 16 Dec 2012 11:24 PM PST With more people traveling that ever before, the UNWTO launches a campaign aimed at encouraging tourists to make a positive difference Article Page Despite a year of global economic uncertainty, more than one billion tourists managed to travel outside their countries' borders in 2012, according to statistics released by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The figure marks a new record for international tourism -- a rise of 20 million tourists over 2011 and the first time the it has hit one billion. Even before this new deal, AirAsia was Airbus' best customer in the world for A320 jets. The 100 new planes brings AirAsia's total Airbus A320 orders to 475. UK Prime Minister David Cameron presided over the official signing ceremony at the UK Airbus wing manufacturing facility in Broughton for the reported US$9.3 billion deal.
